To mark the continuing friendship between the Link Community School and the Sisters of St. Dominic, who founded Link in 1969, a tree-planting ceremony took place at the Caldwell Dominican Motherhouse on June 16. The blue spruce tree, symbolizing both a new planting and the promise of future growth, was the gift of the Link Board of Trustees.

A key concept on which the new school was founded was the need for improved educational models especially at the seventh and eighth grade levels. Creative teaching, parental involvement and small group instruction were key to the school’s early success. Sister Arlene Antczak, Prioress of the Caldwell Dominicans, has worked tirelessly with the Link Board to bring about this new moment of independence, She expressed gratitude to parents, benefactors, faculty and staff for their loyal support and creative leadership over the years. The greeting that accompanied the gift read in part: “”As the seed (of the Link School) grew from Project Link to Link Community School, the Sisters’ vision for social justice in education touched over 3000 youth.”
