This Holy Week, as we navigate our current, unprecedented state of isolation and suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have received several usage requests for images of Sister Gerardine Mueller’s Stations of the Cross light boxes, which are mounted in our Motherhouse Chapel. In response to the needs of our time, Sister Donna L. Ciangio, OP, has written an accompanying “Stations of the Cross during the Pandemic 2020” prayer linked here. We hope these resources will be of use to you as well as a source of comfort.
We want you to know that we are thinking of you and praying for you, especially during these most sacred days of the year. This Holy Week, our churches may be closed but we know the Lord’s heart remains open to receive our love and prayers. If you are looking for livestreamed Masses and other services, the Archdiocese of Newark has compiled a list here.
Alone but together, let us pray for those who are suffering from the coronavirus, all healthcare workers (especially the nurses and staff members at Saint Catherine Convent and Healthcare Center who continue to care for our sisters and residents around the clock), first responders, essential workers, as well as all those who have already died from the virus and their families. On Easter Sunday morning, may we, like Mary Magdalene, proclaim that Jesus Christ is alive and well and will be with us until the end of time.
