Her early ministry was focused on teaching art, beginning at St. John the Baptist School in Jersey City and St. John the Apostle School in Clark. She then spent several years as an art teacher at Union Catholic High School in Scotch Plains and St. Dominic Academy in Jersey City. Sister Gerarda later shared her artistic talents at Mount Saint Dominic Academy in Caldwell and served as a graphic designer at Caldwell College.
Beyond teaching, Sister Gerarda dedicated much of her professional life to communication and design.
