Sister Arlene Antczak, OP, marks 65 years of service as a Caldwell Dominican Sister, having entered the community on September 8, 1959. She pursued a Bachelor of Arts in social studies with a minor in elementary education at Caldwell University, followed by a Master of Science in counseling from the University of Dayton.
Her early teaching ministry began at St. Joseph School in Union City and continued at Lacordaire Academy in Upper Montclair, where she later became principal. Sister Arlene’s service at Mount St. Dominic Grade School in Caldwell was followed by an extensive tenure at St. Dominic Academy in Jersey City, where she served in various capacities, including as a teacher, director of guidance, acting principal, assistant principal, and student assistance and family counselor.
Sister Arlene’s leadership also extended to the Sisters of St. Dominic, where she served as prioress for ten years, as well as councilor for personal development, postulant director, and vocation director. Her leadership in the community was marked by a focus on nurturing both the spiritual and personal growth of the sisters.
Since 2016, Sister Arlene has served as a spiritual director consultant, offering guidance and support to congregations and individuals seeking deeper spiritual reflection.
Sister Arlene’s legacy is one of dedicated service to both the academic and spiritual growth of those she has served. Her leadership, teaching, counseling, and spiritual direction continue to shape the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on the Caldwell Dominican community and beyond.
