Sister Anne Halpin, OP, has spent 65 years as a devoted member of the Caldwell Dominican community. She entered the congregation on September 8, 1959, before earning a Bachelor of Arts in English with an education minor from Caldwell University. Her pursuit of academic excellence continued at Kean University, where she earned a Master of Arts in reading, solidifying her commitment to education.
Sister Anne’s teaching ministry began at St. Philomena School in Livingston, where she laid the foundation for her long and fruitful career in education. Over the years, she served as a teacher at various schools, including St. Peter the Apostle School in Parsippany and St. Michael School in Union. Her leadership expanded when she became principal at Sacred Heart School in Dover, a role she embraced with care and dedication.
Her next chapter took her to Lacordaire Academy in Upper Montclair, where she taught for fifteen years, followed by eight years at Marylawn of the Oranges School in South Orange. Sister Anne also served as vice principal at St. Virgil School in Morris Plains, before returning to teaching at Our Lady of the Lake in Verona, St. Anastasia Parish School in St. Augustine, Florida, and Cathedral Parish School in St. Augustine.
Since 2013, Sister Anne has dedicated herself to pastoral care at St. Anastasia Parish, where she has coordinated the Wildflower Clinic, led the RCIA program, and served as a teacher and ministry coordinator, working tirelessly to support the homeless and the local neighborhood.
Sister Anne’s legacy is one of service to both education and ministry. Her years of teaching, leadership, and pastoral care have touched the lives of countless students and parishioners. Her influence continues to be felt, as she remains a steadfast presence in her parish, helping to build a stronger, more compassionate community.
