Again this year, Sister Jeanne Goyette has once again led a group of pilgrims (Dominicans and others) to Strasbourg, France to learn more about the Dominican mystics some of whom prayed and preached close to this region in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Sister Mary O’Driscoll, OP is leading the preaching during this retreat experience.
An added joy for the Caldwell Dominicans on the trip will be their side-bar journey to Regensburg, Germany where Holy Cross Monastery is located. This fourteenth-century religious house is the place from which four Dominicans came to America in 1852. Their courageous journey to Brooklyn, NY to work among the German immigrants was the seed for the foundation of at least thirteen American Dominican motherhouses. The Caldwell Sisters visiting their German roots included Sister Jeanne Goyette, Suzie Janis, Pat Stringer, Mary Agnes Sullivan, and Geraldyne Yerg.
