On Friday, April 21st, approximately one hundred people, including students and faculty from our academies in Jersey City, Montclair, and Caldwell, associates and sisters, gathered to celebrate Earth Day with prayer, student presentations and song. We were reminded not only to cherish and to give thanks to God for the gifts of Earth but also to act in ways that help to preserve and enhance the unity and integrity of the community of life locally and globally. It was a truly inspiring occasion!
Associates and sisters gathered on April 15th for a beautiful morning of fellowship and service making rosary beads. The finished rosaries will be sent to either St. John’s Soup Kitchen or St. Benedict’s in Newark and distributed to those in need. We pray for all those who made rosaries and all who will pray these rosaries.
It’s not often that a 21-year-old artist has the chance to interview a 101-year-old religious sister whose artwork can be seen around the world. But that was the case when Caldwell University's Benjamin Fernandez paid a visit to our Sister Gerardine Mueller ‘54, OP, a master artist and founder of the university’s Art Department.
