Sisters from Saint Catherine's, the Motherhouse and Sacred Heart gathered with students from Caldwell University, Lacordaire Academy, Mount Saint Dominic Academy, and Saint Dominic Academy today to celebrate Earth Day. Jack, Sister Michael Maurice's dog, represented the animal kingdom. May we live in harmony with the Earth.
On Earth Day 2022, we publicly commit ourselves to supporting Pope Francis' Laudato Si' Action Platform and its goals, which will guide our actions and include a response to the cry of the Earth, a response to the cry of the poor, ecological economics, adoption of sustainable lifestyles, ecological education, ecological spirituality, and community resilience and empowerment.
Last week, Sister Anne John O'Loughlin was honored to receive the Borough of Caldwell's Women's Community Impact Award, which recognized her commitment to improving the lives of women and girls and her positive contributions to the community. Sisters in St. Catherine's celebrated with her after the award ceremony.
Saint Catherine of Siena said, “Be all that you can be, and you will set the world on fire.” In honor of her service as a member of the Board of Trustees of Molloy College, Sister Kathleen Tuite was recently presented with the Saint Catherine of Siena Award by the college. She continues to share her tremendous fire of service to the community at Molloy. After receiving this prestigious award, all the honorees and their guests were invited to a lovely reception. As a complete surprise, the first to greet Sister Kathleen at this reception were Dr. Matthew Whelan, president of Caldwell University, and Mrs. Sheila O’Rourke, vice president for administration and operation at CU. Congratulations, Sister Kathleen! Well deserved, and we are so very proud of you!
