Among the lovely events that brought 2014 to a close was St. Dominic Academy’s Annual Gala at which Sister Patricia Hogan, a graduate of SDA Class of 1959, received the Dominican Pillar Sister Pat HoganAward in recognition of her long service to Catholic education and her commitment to urban youth in particular. Her citation reads in part: “Sister Pat has been a Caldwell Dominican for 55 years and is currently in her 36th year as principal of Our Lady Help of Christians School in East Orange….At OLCH Sister Pat ministers to all God’s people and wants her school to remain a deeply religious institution based on the teaching of Jesus as well as a school with great values, academic achievement and respect for all cultures and creeds.” Our Lady Help of Christians was recently designated by the U.S. Department of Education as a national Blue Ribbon School.
