Associates of the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Caldwell embrace our congregation’s charism to praise, to bless and to preach, and, on Sunday, September 16th, we had the pleasure of welcoming the following new members into our Associate Program at a beautiful prayer service:
Father Francis A. Heinen, OPA (sponsored by Sister de Montfort Kinchellagh, OP)
Nancy Kennedy, OPA (sponsored by Sister Alice Uhl, OP)
Patricia Russillo, OPA (sponsored by Elaine Tanimura, OPA)
Rosa Mirna Sanchez, OPA (sponsored by Sister Barbara Moore, OP)
Laura Ziegert, OPA (sponsored by Sister Barbara Moore, OP)
The Reception of New Associates was filled with song and prayer and included a moving reflection given by Ginger Grancagnolo, OPA. During the commitment ceremony lead by Sister Donna Marie O’Brien, OP, and Corinne Thompson, OPA, the five new associates promised to help carry forward the Caldwell Dominican mission to develop a passion for contemplation, to promote social justice and to recognize the sacredness of the earth. Each received a Caldwell Dominican pin and prayer shawl. The annual commitment renewal for all Caldwell Dominican associates followed.
Sister Patrice Werner, OP, Prioress, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the words from the opening hymn that “all are welcome” and reflecting that September is a time for new beginnings. She thanked the new and newly recommitted associates for being witnesses to the ongoing charism and mission of the Sisters of Saint Dominic and “companions on this great journey — the Unfolding Mystery.”
