Caldwell Dominican associates and sisters spent Saturday morning reflecting on the stories of women in the Bible. Sister Honora Werner, OP, led the engaging study day and encouraged the women gathered to reflect on characteristics that we may share with the holy women of the Bible. When we look in the mirror, do we see any resemblance to these women? Are we homemakers and nest builders like Martha as we feverishly set the table for others in our lives? Are we like Ruth, who did not stand still in her sorrow but found life in serving another? Do we preach like the Samaritan woman at the well, who left her jug and old life behind to evangelize and tell the Good News to all? Can we strive to lead lives of justice and integrity like Bathsheba, who modeled honesty and peace? In this Women's History Month, we remember the all-too-often-forgotten women in the Bible who provide strong examples of faith, hope, love, and justice for us all.
